Goodbye

I wrote this poem right after a good friend of mine was killed driving home from out lakehouse, he fell asleep at the wheel and went of the road hitting another car sitting at the intersection, he was only 20 years old. I learned alot from this experience, some of the things being, when you tell a friend goodbye it may be the last time you see them, and bad things can happen to you and close ones, even though it always seems like that is a problem everyone else had, it can happen to you. I learned alot more from this but I will just leave you with those two things.

I said goodbye to you this afternoon
You said you were going home
But unknown to the both of us was
That you were going home to heaven
You had not seen sleep for days
But you started an eternal sleep on your way home
While you where driving
You probably never saw the truck you hit
You probably never knew how fast your young life was to end
You probably opened your eyes only to see Jesus
We will miss you
We will wish you where here to live with us
But inside we know you are in a place much better
But we will always ask why you had to leave us so soon
You had no enemies, but only friends
You always had a smile for everyone
But now you smile is set in stone
Along with others who have passed along the same way
We will miss you
