This is one of my favorite poems, this is the style of writting that I like to do, one where, it is kind of like a daydream, and also one in which I create the scene in your mind, starting out with a small detail and building out from it till you can see the whole picture. I like the way things are played out in this poem such as the paths in the garden, I wrote that there were many paths in the garden but that they all met at this point, I put this in to represent that no matter what the path of out life would have been I think God would have brought us together. There is more things like this in this poem, almost every detail has meaning in this poem, so read it and imagine what you think it means.
The Meeting Are you awake? A friend asks me Yes, I say, I was just thinking. What were you thinking about? Oh, just the last couple of years I guess Oh, ok, then my friend leaves satisfied with that answer. That was not what I was thinking of though I reflect however on what I could see My minds eye was drawing pictures of what could be When I think of what I saw this is what it looked like. A flower, a rose it appears Red petals, not completely opened. It looks as if it was just waking to the love it takes from one and gives to another The leaves have dew yet on them As the morning of one's love has just begun Holding onto the stem of this rose is a boy He holds it with utmost care He knows how fragile the love within it is I can see the look in his eyes They are a look of respect and admiration. I wonder what he sees But before I have time to think much about that I see there is a girl. It is hard to tell much about her though The beauty she holds shines in all directions She has a smile of contentment on her face The clothes she wears are more beautiful than words can express She smells of the freshness of spring It looks as if she want to say something but can't But even this silence seems magnificently perfect to the boy. I am waiting for him to give this rose to her. But it seems that when they saw each other time froze. How long has it been since either have moved? The perfectness of this moment could make any heart studder. Finally the boy moves He is moving ever so carefully to give her the rose. Is she going to accept it I wonder In what seemed like an eternity she finally has the rose I then notice where they have met It seem odd that there meeting place was hidden to me until now, I can see them standing in a garden It stretches out into eternity for all that I can see. There are paths all along the garden They all appear to all join at one point The point where a boy and a girl stand staring into the distance. Where the paths lead after this point though Is one path just big enough for the two to walk. The path goes without ending, into eternity The last I see of this new couple. Is them walking side by side into eternity together. |
