This was a hard poem to write, what can you say that will be good enough for your wedding day? Well time was getting closer and closer and I still did not have a poem. and less than one week before the wedding I wrote this one. I tried in this poem to show how when everyone else was watching the cerimony the married couple to be were seeing what had brought them to this place and time. Also the last line shows what the marriage is, friends forever. Our Beginning On a warm summer day, Two people stand hand in hand, Nervous and excited. A crowd is gathered watching, Vows are exchanged, And the pastor makes the pronouncement. The couple now stands as Husband and Wife. How did they get here? Well, once upon a time a boy met a girl, They enjoyed conversation and laughs, They shared their knowledge time and skills, And they became the best of friends, Sharing all that life had to offer them In the good times and in the bad, They had found a companion, a helpmate And they had found a love, Tested by fire, Polished by laughter. They fit together like the pieces of a puzzle, Where one was weak, the other was strong, They had spent many great months together, Sharing, working, and planning, Getting themselves ready for today, A day to celebrate with their friends and family, A day to tell of their love for each other, And a day to commit themselves to each other. You may now kiss the bride, The music starts again, The couple now comes down the isle, As husband and wife, and friends forever. |
