Autumn Dragon Leaves of yellow orange and scarlet red Float lazily down Through golden rays of sunshine Like some mythical creature sleepily stretching. I follow their advice and slow my hurried footsteps And listen to the crunch-crunch beneath my feet As I walk under the maple tree. The cold wind whistles softly, Makind the leaves whirl around me Like a bright dragon circling 'round on its bed. Lifting my face, I close my eyes And feel the wind play with my hair, But shudder as its fingers reach down my back. My little dogs race around gleefully in the leaves, One staring woefully at the house, Whimpering quietly. The other intently sniffs the ground searching for a rabbit trail And walks through the pile of leaves, Never realizing that she just walked through A dragon's lair.
