Patricia McCracken's Dawn Raider

Dawn

Morning enters,
Her flaming smile regally warming the sky.
But Night has not retreated all together,
Insisting that she remain a few moments longer.
The two eternal forces collide,
And an unearthly feeling washes over the silent landscape
As though one awakened into another world
Where there is no separation between light and darkness.
A soft red glow creeps steadily upward from behind the silhouetted trees,
Lighting them on fire
And slowly chasing away the Moon.
Time stops,
And I am alone in this strange world,
Where it is always
Dawn.
