Eye for an Eye

Eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth.
You strike me and I lash back,
Beating for beating,
Cut for cut,
Bruise for bruise,
Limb for limb.

Warheads whistle through the air,
A poof of white:
Life for life.

When the dust settles
And the air clears
All that remains on the blood-stained ground
Are two blind and toothless
Bitter
Old men.
