Fire Lizard I wish a had a magic touch, I’d draw you in your gold queen’s clutch, Then wake you from your eggshelled sleep, To make you mine, and mine to keep. If only written worlds were true, With bottomless oceans ever blue, With dangers real that dragons burn, Day after day, Turn after Turn, Patrolling the never ending skies, Ever watched o’er by dragon eyes. Author's Note: I was inspired to write this poem after seeing Sara A. C. Patterson's picture "Lazy Days" on www.elfwood.com. "Lazy Days" shows a sleeping green fire lizard or dragonet that are from Anne McCaffery's books about Pern. Read them! They are so good. Artwork used with permission. |
