Joy of Life I know I should be sleeping, But a persistent twinkle remains in my eyes, Cheerfully refusing to be subdued. The corners of my mouth cannot be solemn And my feet will not stay still. Kicking off the covers, They dance about the room And I give in to this inescapable attitude, Throwing back my head, Laughing and drinking in the world’s wondrous beauty. My hands, unprompted, Reach toward Heaven. I am joyful just to be alive. Author's Note: The link I had for Gail Genine Butler's web site is no longer available so I am unable to link you to more of the artist's work. If a current web site is available, please let me know and I will happily update this page. Thank you.
