This poem depicts how we would not appreciate all the good things the world offers unless they can be compared to the bad things. Kind of like we wouldn't appreciate the sunshine if we didn't have the rain.
All the Sweetness in the World All the sweetness in the world Is poison without a bit o’ salt, All the laughter ever made is but haunting Echoes when without tears. All the kisses ever given are Hollow if not patching broken hearts. And a rainbow can ne’er be caught Unless by a net of waylaid dreams. |
