Train Station

A great long train rushes by,
Clackety-clackety-clackety-clack.
Whirring, pushing, pounding, thund'ring.

I stand alone at the station here,
Clackety-clackety-clackety-clack,
Waiting for the train to stop.

But the powerful engine does not slow,
Clackety-clackety-clackety-clack,
Groaning mightily, it hastens more.

"Wait!" cry I, "wait, slow for me!"
Clackety-clackety-clackety-clack
But still the horse-pow'r does not pause.

The impatient train demands a choice:
Clackety-clackety-clackety-clack,
To jump now or hold my peace.

Dare I tempt fate's silent hand,
Clackety-clackety-clackety-clack,
And jump to failure or success?

Or wait for a slower, gentl'r train,
Clackety-clackety-clackety-clack,
And hope this one won't be the last?

Glancing back at the platform bare,
Clackety-clackety-clackety-clack,
And again at the looming, daunting train,

I take a breath and clench my eyes,
Clackety-clackety-clackety-clack,
Then, overcoming fears, I
                                        leap!
