I wrote this after yet one more thing threw a hitch in the wedding plans. And really, who hasn't asked themselves this question after the caterer loses the down payment, the florist says she is charging you $60 per corsage that has only one rose and one sprig of baby breath (no, mine isn't charging quite that much), your bridesmaids who didn't come to help pick out their dresses won't take the time to have their measurements taken even though you've politely asked and threatened several times. If you are having all these problems, you're probably a bride!

Wedding Bell Blues

When he asked me The Question, down on one knee,
I was the happiest any girl could be.
I’m happy, now, too, don’t be mistaken,
It’s just that this wedding my sanity has taken.
The groomsmen are three, the bridesmaids too,
But getting them fitted is making me blue.
Only one gal can make it to look for a dress
The others’ll just have to accept it, I guess.
The groomsmen’s eyes widen when they see their tux’s price,
I’m sure the cost of my dress would make them look twice!
I picked out the perfect invitations to send,
But my dad thinks all I do is spend, spend, spend.
The pastor can’t make it on the planned wedding date,
It’s either move it up a week or a month we’ll have to wait.
The decorations I wanted are too expensive, it seems,
The flower girl won’t cooperate, she just kicks and screams.
The caterer is good but the florist seems rough,
I feel like yelling, “Enough is enough!
Why is all this happening to me?
We just want to get married and live happily.
I just found out the rehearsal date won’t do,
Now what we'll do, I haven’t a clue.
Here’s yet another crisis; I can’t cope!
I moan to my fiancé, “Why didn’t we just elope?”
