The Wildness Within

Liberty plays,
Blaring forth from beckoning brass,
Wakening my slumbering soul,
Chained beneath the painted masks,
Forced on by the world.
The harmony frees my imprisoned spirit,
Buried deep inside of me.
The Wildness within stretches now,
Flexing stiffened limbs,
Relishing freedom's invigorating taste,
And insists that it must
Dance.
First, toes begin to squirm,
Then tap inside a darkened shoe,
Heels sway from side to side,
Hips begin to weave
As fresh new blood flows through
Too long stagnate veins.
The Wildness creeps up to my heart,
There's no resisting now.
Freedom falls from my fingertips,
Head swings in beat with the
New old tune.
Eyes closed against the imprisoning world,
Ancient cries spring from my throat,
Beneath my placid exterior,
My soul is still
Untamed.
